The Law of Un-Attraction
“According to ‘Law of Attraction’, what we have in life today is all because of what we have attracted into our life. The law strongly supports the idea that our thoughts manifest into reality.”
Most of us began to hear about the concept of the Law of Attraction (LOA) or the power of manifesting from the book or movie “The Secret,” Many believe that the LOA is a modern creation. But this is not the case. In 1906, Walker Atkinson released a new thought of energy and vibration in a book called, “Thought Vibration or Law of Attraction of the Thought World.”
One hundred years later, in 2006, Rhonda Byrne wrote a “self-help” book called The Secret which sold over 30 million copies. It also became a movie.
You can take the law of attraction or manifestation concept positively or negatively. Regardless, with the amount of attention brought to both, there must be something to it.
When I started digging into the Law of Attraction, I immediately thought of the negative experiences in my life. I don’t consider myself a negative or pessimistic person. I would categorize myself more as a realist, but in this case, perhaps not.
If you are anything like me, you might have asked yourself what the f is wrong with me for bringing these really s***** people and experiences into my life? If I am attracting these negative things into my life, I must be the issue. I began to ask, if I am the issue then what would I do about it. The concept of Law of Attraction forced me to dig deep. No one enjoys digging deep into crappy memories with crappy people. But I was on a mission.
I tend to be the type of person who blames myself for situations. The last several years have been a self-discovery phase for me. I am not surprised, given my ability to over-analyze, that I went down this rabbit hole when first learning about the Law of Attraction.
I began analyzing the “bad” and the “ugly.” We will keep the good for later. Why had these things come into my life? Was I truly responsible for all the pain thrown my way? Was everyone else’s past full of people who hurt them? Somehow, I must have been attracting negative situations; negative energy. Why all the broken bones, broken friendships and broken hearts?
